What's new in ChartHop: time-based columns, time off milestones, and translated goals

ChartHop is an organizational intelligence company. Our platform connects workforce, business, and financial data in one place, so HR, Finance, and leadership can plan, operate, and make decisions from a single source of truth. Every six weeks the team ships a new batch of features. This release lets the Data Sheet look backward in time, automates time off awards based on tenure or any other field you track, and makes goals readable in every language your team speaks.

Here's everything that's new.

Time-based columns in the ChartHop Data Sheet comparing a field against a historical date

Compare any field against any point in time

The Data Sheet can now look backward. Add a column that compares any field against a historical date or a custom timeframe, and see what changed without building a separate report.

That cuts down on custom date fields, which means less configuration to maintain and fewer near-identical fields to explain. You can also add the same field multiple times in a single Data Sheet, each with its own date context, so one view can hold today's headcount, headcount at the start of the fiscal year, and headcount twelve months ago side by side.

Available in ChartHop Labs now, moving to general availability soon.

The ChartHop time off milestone editor showing tiered awards and projected balances

Time off awards that trigger on milestones

Tenure-based time off usually lives in a policy document and gets applied by hand. Milestone awards move that logic into ChartHop. Configure the tiers once, say two extra days at two years and five at five, and the accruals happen on their own. No manual tracking, no ticket queue.

  • Choose when awards land. Assign them on the employee's exact anniversary or at the start of the policy year, with full or prorated awards.
  • Control how milestones stack. Use groups so milestones replace each other with the highest tier winning, or let them stack across separate categories like tenure, location, and role.
  • Go beyond tenure. Custom milestones use CQL, so an award can key off any field you track: job level, office, employment type, or a custom field of your own.
  • See the result before you save. The editor shows the projected balance or accrual rate for each milestone as you build it, so you can check the numbers against your policy document on the spot instead of waiting for the next accrual run.

Available now for all ChartHop HRIS customers. Milestones apply retroactively by default; if you are consolidating older policies and want awards to start from a specific date, your CSM can set that up with support. Read the documentation for the full setup.

A ChartHop goal with automatic translation and a Translations tab for author review

Goals in every language your team speaks

Goal names, descriptions, targets, and milestones are now translated automatically when you save them, and each employee sees them in their preferred language.

  • Authors keep control. A dedicated Translations tab lets you review and correct machine translations, which matters when a goal is customer-facing or high stakes.
  • Comments translate on demand. Owners and supporters write progress updates in their own language and reviewers translate on the fly, so a distributed team can hold one conversation instead of several.

From feedback to feature

A set of smaller updates that came straight from customer requests:

  • Improved group org chart (Org Chart): Group view uses the space more efficiently, with denser displays of group members and better visibility for the people who hold positions.
  • Upgraded Greenhouse integration (ATS): every customer is now on the V3 integration, with updated endpoints and better error handling. The switchover is automatic and needs nothing from you.
  • Scenario cost basis selector (Planning): the cost figure in the scenario header is now a dropdown with Annualized, Fiscal year, and Fiscal quarter. FY and quarter costs prorate month by month, so pushing out an open job's start date drops the in-period cost while annualized stays flat.
  • Editable scenario names (Planning): the Review step of every Simple Workflow, including Create Job and Update Job, now includes an editable Scenario name field.
  • Drag and drop org chart in scenarios (Planning): the org chart inside a scenario shows only the jobs that scenario touches and dims the rest. On by default for In Review, Approved, and Merged scenarios. The purple selection outline now renders together with the green, yellow, or red change border, so you keep the new, updated, or departing signal when you click a node.

What's coming next

Five more features are in Labs and rolling out soon.

  • Comp Review impact dashboard (Compensation): a straight answer to what a cycle actually cost, built for leadership and finance. Four sections: KPI cards, a cost waterfall by change type or budget pool, a budget pool summary table, and a three-level pivot on department, job level, location, reviewer, or workbook columns.
  • Multiple filters on the new job modal (Planning): admins can configure a second and third filter-by option to narrow the title list. Comp band and boolean fields work as filters too.
  • Per-person breakdown in organizational budgets (Planning): a spreadsheet-style table on the budget detail page lists both filled and open jobs contributing to usage, one column per month of the fiscal period. Open roles show a dash until their planned start date, then monthly cost from that month on. Filters for All, Filled, Open, and Missing comp data, plus an Open in Data Sheet link.
  • Forecast and variance in organizational budgets (Planning): a dashed line projects where a budget lands through its end date, picking up where the solid usage-to-date line stops. It projects from hire dates, open role pricing from comp bands, and monthly cost segments, so a delayed req re-slopes the line. Sortable Variance ($) and Variance (%) columns bring the budgets furthest off plan to the top, with an indicator when one budget's cost basis differs from the others.
  • Portfolio rollup analytics (Analytics): organizations that manage multiple portfolio companies can pull all of their ChartHop orgs into a single parent org, giving leadership a unified, real-time view of headcount and people data across every company they own. The portfolio org syncs as a read-only reporting layer, so each subsidiary keeps full control of its own data while the parent gets consolidated reporting with no risk of accidental edits.

ChartHop admins can turn these on from Admin, then Labs, in the left sidebar. If you cannot find the setting, your CSM or the support team can help.
