Increase alignment and transparency with the new Slack + ChartHop integration.

Slack keeps teams connected, especially as remote work becomes more and more common. The new ChartHop + Slack integration will send announcements to a Slack channel when organizational changes occur in ChartHop.

With custom and flexible notifications, teams can be kept up to date of any changes to the organization - without any manual work. Now, relevant team members can be automatically notified of new hires, departures and other org changes.

You can use this app to announce public changes to the entire organization - such as new hires ???? - or to a specific team - such as newly opened roles. You can also use it to monitor employee use of ChartHop, particularly activities like data exports.

To set it up, follow the instructions here. You will be setting up the Slack Notifier app (the Slack app syncs your Slack photos into your ChartHop org chart.

Note: When you add the Webhook on the Slack side, set the "Post To Channel" to a public channel. (This channel will not actually be used -- the channel sent to is always controlled on the ChartHop side -- but Slack webhooks can fail if "Post To Channel" is set to a private channel.)

As part of the set up process, you'll be asked to select the type of access. If you are sending to a public channel, set it up as limited view. If you want to send data to different channels with different types of data, you can install the app multiple times with different settings. If you are using this app for sending any potentially sensitive information, make sure the data is only sent to a private channel with appropriate personnel access. The app cannot determine who is in the channel before sending.

Once the integration is set up, you can select the notification triggers and the channels that will get the information. We've compiled best practices across our customers below.

Announcing new hires

Bringing on a new team member is very exciting. Particularly during times of remote work, we have found that announcing new hires to the whole organization helps the new employees feel welcome and increases current team members' sense of belonging.

The new hire will be posted based on the announce date you set in ChartHop.

Depending on the size of your organization you may want to

  • post new hires to a #general or #peoplechanges channel
  • post new hires to department or location channels
  • post new hires to level-specific channels (in the example below, we use managerCount<=1 to denote any executive)
How to set it up: Select New Hires as the event type.Recommended Audience: EveryoneChannel: #filledhires and/or #peoplechanges

Announcing title & reporting changes

As team members move around the organization, you want to ensure full alignment across HR & People, Talent, Finance, IT and People Managers / Leaders. With this new integration, you can make them automatically aware of the changes across the org.

This information will be posted based on the announce date you set in ChartHop.

Announcing departures

Similar to title & reporting changes, you want to ensure full alignment across HR & People, Talent, Finance, IT and People Managers / Leaders when someone departs from the organization.

This information will be posted based on the announce date you set in ChartHop.

How to set it up: Select Departures as the event type.Audience: HR & People, Talent, Finance, IT and People Managers / LeadersChannel: Private #peoplemoves or #departures channel

As a best practices, we recommend that the managers have a succession plan in place and send it after the announcement is made.

Getting live updates on open jobs

Staying aligned on recruiting progress can be challenging. This is why ChartHop's integrations across the different HRIS and ATS systems within your HR tech stack can streamline the process and keep everyone aligned. With this integration you can push live updates regarding open roles such as:

  • New role opened
  • Open role closed
  • Open role set to active
  • Open role set to inactive

These updates will exclude any jobs that are marked as sensitive.

Managing data access

For security's sake, you should create a notification that lets your ChartHop admins know when an employee has downloaded the company roster.

Monitoring all changes

This group might also be interested in having any org change send a notification to the channel so they can keep tabs on all of the changes happening across the organization. How to set it up: Select Org Changes as the event type.Channel: #charthop-adminAudience: Private channel with ChartHop Owner-level employees
