Announcing Map Visualization for Remote Workers ????

Many workforces have become distributed organizations overnight due to COVID-19. As large metro areas are affected, remote locations vary from home addresses and family residences to homes of friends, and more.

To help provide you with more visibility during times of remote work, we’ve added an option to view Remote Work Addresses in your ChartHop Map.

For leaders, this provides pivotal information as state or local ordinances are issued and as business hours change due to changes in time zones or school closures. It also gives teams the chance to show their support for their employees by sending care packages to affected employees.

For employees, this can make them feel more connected to each other, even something as small as seeing your coworkers on the map – and noticing that someone who is usually in NY is actually close to you in Boston now, can help build a relationship.

How it Works

You can now view the Map by both Home Address and Work Address. During times of remote work, work address can reflect an employee’s current working location – whether that’s their Home Address or an alternative Remote Work Address.

As always, you can still highlight specific teams, departments and functions within the Map view with the following:

  • Drop down filter: select any field to color-code your map (e.g. Team)
  • Search bar filter: enter any filter or search (e.g. [directs > 0] to filter for managers )

Visibility & Access

By default, all employees can access the Map and view everyone’s work location.

In order to protect employee privacy, exact addresses and locations are concealed and map pinpoints are randomized based on zip code. A privacy note has been added to the map to reflect this and ease any employee privacy concerns.

Admins have an additional option to view either by Home Address or by Work Address.

Collecting Remote Addresses

Follow these easy steps to set this up in ChartHop.

1. Update office settings

If some of your offices are closed, change your office settings by going to your office location settings page, editing your offices, and updating Location Type to Remote (see below). For all employees in that office, this will automatically set their Work Location as their respective Home Address.

2. Ask employees to update their location

Direct employees to app.charthop.com/form/remoteWorkAddress where they can directly enter their current work location. Example message below:

If you’re working from a remote location other than your home address, please follow this link app.charthop.com/form/remoteWorkAddress to update it. Once everyone has updated their location, you’ll be able to view our distributed team using the Map on ChartHop.

3. Set up an all-org bulletin message

Go to your Org Settings – scroll to the bottom and enter the custom message you would like displayed on the home Dashboard for everyone. Example message below:

Note: If you’ve already collected remote addresses, you can upload a CSV with a unique identifier and the address information. Download the .csv template here.
